Venue Hire

Theatre Severn has various spaces which are available for hire for performances, meetings and events.

The Auditorium

The Auditorium seats an audience of 638 over three levels – stalls, circle and upper circle. The horseshoe shaped Auditorium makes the performance space a very intimate one where audiences are close to the stage and can immerse themselves in the performance. The Auditorium has excellent technical and stage facilities allowing an exciting new range of artists and companies to come to Shropshire. It benefits from full flying, allowing scenery (and artists!) to appear as if by magic.  There is increased flexibility within the Auditorium in that if the Orchestra pit is not required the floor can be hydraulically lifted either to stalls seating level to provide the full compliment of seating, or raised further to stage level, to form a ‘thrust’ stage. The Auditorium boasts luxury seating, excellent sight lines, air conditioning, and the backstage facilities to make the magic of ‘make believe’ a reality.

The Walker Theatre

Our 250 seated Walker Theatre can also be transformed into a 500 standing venue for live music as well as cabaret seated events. This space can also be utilised as a conference or lecture space.
The Walker Theatre has been named after The Walker Trust in recognition of their generous donation to the Theatre Severn Capital Project.

The Dance Studio

With natural light, a fully sprung floor and state of the art sound system our dance studio gives Shropshire’s performers the best possible facilities to train and develop their talents.   The Dance Studio hosts dance and drama classes every day and is used by people of all ages and abilities. The Dance Studio will be the place to discover the stars of tomorrow, today.

The Viv Kelly School of Dance hold regular dance and drama classes in the Dance Studio.

The Haydn Smith Room

The Haydn Smith Room is our hospitality room. This beautiful room enjoys breathtaking views of the river and of Shrewsbury. Large enough to accommodate 80 guests for corporate hospitality or 30 guests for a boardroom meeting, the Haydn Smith Room is ideally located to display the town and the theatre at its very best.

The Haydn Smith Room is named after our friend and colleague, Haydn Smith. Haydn worked as Assistant ICT Manager for Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council and was heavily involved in developing the IT system for Theatre Severn. Haydn sadly died in April 2008 and is sorely missed.
