Kilkenny city is famous for its long history of brewing fine IRISH ale and beer. The brewery may be gone, but the music plays on. The Kilkenny’s are the first group named after the beloved marble city and are Ireland's newest balladeers to come from a city steeped in music, history and folk culture.

The band's following is growing internationally and their upward curve has been sure and steady. With passion and pride, The Kilkenny’s play old Irish folk songs and new songs of their own. May 15th 2015 marked the worldwide release of the band’s first studio album: 'The Colour Of Freedom.’, which features original compositions and new arrangements of classic folk songs. The album employs a wide spectrum of traditional instruments including tin whistle, bodhran, banjo and mandolin, incorporating modern folk elements such as drum kit and world percussion. Therein lays The Kilkenny’s' sound: tradition modernised through a vibrant mix of old and new.
